Capabilities

What it does

AI-referred sessions by assistant

Sessions, engaged rate, users and GA4 key events from 9 AI assistants, split by source with a daily trend. Visits are matched on 13 known referrer hostnames, such as chatgpt.com, perplexity.ai, gemini.google.com and claude.ai.

The pages AI sends people to

Top landing pages for AI-referred visits, ranked by sessions, so you can set the pages assistants send people to against the pages they cite in answers.

A full website dashboard on GA4

Six top stats with the change against the previous period, a main graph, current visitors and breakdowns by source, page, location and device. One toggle narrows the stats, graph, breakdowns and goals to AI traffic only.

Search Console and Bing beside it

Clicks, impressions, CTR, average position, top queries and top pages from Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools sit on the same Overview as your AI traffic, so both halves of search read together.

A drop diagnoser that shows its work

Run it when traffic falls: it dates the drop, checks in Search Console whether impressions held while clicks fell, inspects your top 10 pages for indexing and ranks likely causes by evidence. What it cannot check is listed as a limit.

Read-only, honest about gaps

Measure asks Google only for read-only scopes and never changes your settings. When GA4 thresholds or samples a report, the panel says so, and a withheld metric reads as unavailable rather than zero.

How it works

Three steps, start to finish

Five blue glass capsules feed curving tubes into a tall graduated glass cylinder of glowing blue liquid beside a smaller frosted one
  1. Step 1: Connect GA4 and Search Console

Grant Measure read-only access with your Google account, then pick the GA4 property and Search Console site for your project. Add a Bing Webmaster API key if you want Bing as well.

  2. Step 2: Measure reads AI referrals from GA4

Sessions whose source is an AI assistant hostname are grouped by assistant with users, engaged sessions and key events, plus the top landing pages across all AI visits, for any range from the last day to all time.

  3. Step 3: Act on what moved

Filter the website dashboard to AI traffic and export it as CSV, or run the drop diagnoser when clicks fall. Agent M and the MCP server read the same data.

The details

The specifics

Engines, data sources, cadence and plan limits, stated as the product works today.

Data sources
Google Analytics 4 Data API, Google Search Console API and Bing Webmaster API. Measure adds no tracking script to your site.
Access
Google sign-in with read-only scopes (analytics.readonly and webmasters.readonly). Bing Webmaster Tools connects with an API key.
AI referrers
ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, You.com, Poe, Meta AI and Grok, matched on 13 hostnames. These are GA4 referral sources, separate from the engines Measure scans.
Metrics
Totals for sessions, engaged sessions, users and GA4 key events, sessions per assistant, a daily trend and top landing pages; Agent M and MCP return the full per-assistant breakdown. GA4 thresholding and sampling are flagged; a withheld metric shows as unavailable, never as 0.
Freshness
GA4 reports cover complete days in your property's time zone. The AI traffic report is cached for 6 hours and the website dashboard for 3. Search Console data trails by about 3 days.

FAQ

Common questions

How does Measure track traffic from ChatGPT and other AI assistants?

Measure reads your Google Analytics 4 property through a read-only connection and counts sessions whose source is a known AI assistant hostname, such as chatgpt.com, perplexity.ai, gemini.google.com or claude.ai. It covers 9 assistants across 13 hostnames and reports sessions, engaged sessions, users and key events for each, plus the top landing pages across all AI-referred visits.

Does Measure need a tracking script on my site?

No. Every number in the AI traffic panel and the website dashboard comes from your existing GA4 property through Google's Data API. Measure requests read-only Google scopes, so it cannot change your Analytics or Search Console settings.

Can Measure see AI-influenced visits that arrive without a referrer?

No. Measure counts only the visits GA4 attributes to an AI assistant's hostname. If someone reads an AI answer and then types your URL or searches for your brand, GA4 records that visit as direct or organic, and Measure does not reassign it. Treat the AI-referred figure as a floor, not the full reach of AI answers.

What does the drop diagnoser check when traffic falls?

It needs about 5 weeks of Search Console or scan history and dates when the drop began. With Search Console connected, it compares impressions with clicks to separate an AI answer taking the click from a ranking loss and inspects your top 10 pages with URL Inspection. It then ranks likely causes by evidence and returns a recovery plan. Google manual actions cannot be checked through any API, so they are marked unverifiable.

Which Measure plans include AI traffic attribution?

Every paid plan: Starter, Pro, Advanced and Enterprise. Reading GA4, Search Console and Bing Webmaster data uses no credits. You need a Google account with access to the GA4 property and Search Console site you want to connect.
